Pyrethrum daisy - 100 seeds
The Pyrethrum daisy is one of those plants that is a true gardeners friend. Not only do they brighten up the garden and attract beneficial pollinating insects, their flowers also make one of the most powerful natural insecticides. Easy to grow and perfect for cut flowers.
Sow on the surface of the compost, covering the seed with a light layer of vermiculite, from late winter to spring in John Innes Seed Compost. Make sure that the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 30-60 days at 13-15C (55-60F). Do not exclude light which is beneficial to germination.
Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Later plant out 40-45cm (16-18in) apart into ordinary soil in full sun.
The plants, if cut back hard after flowering, may flower again in early autumn.
