Tree Fern Mixed - 14 spores

Like palms, tree ferns develop a trunk (known as a caudex) as each frond dies. This mixture is drawn from Cyathea and Dicksonia species and are hardy in light to medium frost areas. Pack includes enough spores for 25 plants.

Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 70-75F (20-25C). Surface sow on a peat/sand mix seed compost and do not exclude light. Sow at any time of year. Surface sow onto moist sterile soilless compost. Do not cover with compost. Seal the seed container inside a polythene bag and leave in subdued light until germination, which can be from 10 days to a year or more.
Transplant seedlings in small clumps, handling carefully, preferably into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Pot on as required into 13cm (5in) and finally 20cm (8in) pots. They prefer free draining compost with extra sand added. Grow in large pots or tubs in a shady greenhouse or conservatory.
Water trunk daily from spring to autumn. Provide a minimum winter temperature of 7-13C (45-55F).
